Focus On: Earthquakes – Engineer’s perspective
Friday, March 24, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Focus On: Earthquakes
In the wake of the Kaikoura Earthquake last year, we will be running a mini-series of events under the topic of “Earthquakes”
What happens to buildings during an earthquake
The first presentation in this mini-series will be by Duncan Fleming, Technical Director of engineering firm Aurecon.
Duncan will share with us his experience of designing buildings to withstand earthquakes and talk about how the Kaikoura earthquake was different to other earthquakes, and how different buildings across Wellington behaved during the quake.
A light lunch will be provided.
There are limited spaces for the webinar, so we ask that you only register if you are outside of Wellington or Auckland CBD’s so that there are sufficient spaces for members who cannot attend in person.
We will send a link with instructions on how to access the webinar the day before. Please note that you will need at least 10 minutes to set up the software for the webinar before the event begins.
We are unable to record the webinar to put on the website, so it must be watched live.
This is the first time we have attempted to run an event via webinar, so we apologise in advance for any technical difficulties faced. We will attempt to remedy these, but may have to cancel the webinar at the last minute if technical issues cannot be fixed in a timely manner.
