How the actuarial profession is helping New Zealand’s most vulnerable people

Wednesday, June 15, 2016 - Thursday, June 16, 2016

Event Navigation

Changes are afoot in the Government social sector and the actuarial profession is at the forefront. Social investment is a core Government policy and is about improving the lives of New Zealanders by applying rigorous and evidence-based investment practices to social services. Actuarial modelling is a key tool within the social investment framework. In this presentation we’ll talk about exciting new applications of actuarial techniques to social housing, criminal justice and vulnerable children. This represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the profession to positively influence the lives of New Zealand’s most vulnerable people.

Presenters: Dan Stoner and Eric Judd from the Ministry of Social Development
