NZSA – Women’s Career and Networking Event – Auckland
Wednesday, August 29, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Time: 4:15pm-6:00pm (doors open 4:00pm for drinks and nibbles beforehand)
A selection of very successful actuaries in both Auckland and Wellington will speak about their careers, pathways, successes, learnings and advice to their younger selves – and to field your questions and encourage discussion on the issues we all face. In each location, we will also have a newer mum to speak first-hand about coming back to the office and achieving that elusive work/life balance.
Janet Brownlie (formerly Janet Hayden), independent consultant and director – Janet took ten years out of work as soon as she qualified to raise her three children, returning to Aon as a consulting actuary and rising to be general manager for Aon Hewitt New Zealand.
Doune Connett, Chief Risk Officer and Appointed Actuary, Sovereign – Doune has had a stellar career, primarily with Sovereign and its predecessor, including roles in marketing and as acting CFO, before moving to her current CRO role. With a former maths teacher husband on the look out for talent, Doune has mentored and trained many of New Zealand’s actuaries.
Anita Samu, Head of Business Planning and Decision Support, Southern Cross – Anita began her actuarial studies with a one year old son. Since then she has completed her studies and built a career that includes senior actuarial and non-actuarial roles in both consulting and corporates.
