He also serves as a Developer Consultant to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in New York\, where he supports the development of national carbon registry systems and climate market infrastructure across multiple countries. Sapumal has worked on carbon market design and implementation in countries including Sri Lanka\, Vietnam\, Zimbabwe\, and Namibia\, focusing on Article 6 mechanisms\, emissions trading systems\, and digital MRV frameworks. He holds a PhD in Data Science from the National University of Singapore (NUS)\, with research focused on artificial intelligence and statistical modelling. Prior to this\, he worked at LSEG Technology (London Stock Exchange Group)\, developing clearing and financial market systems.
