    Update on Actuarial Exams

I hope you are all well and managing to maintain some sense of normality in your “bubbles”.

Further to my email last week there has been an update on the exam situation from the Actuaries Institute.  In brief the message is:  The Institute have had to make the decision to defer the Fellowship and Part III April examinations until October 2020.

STUDENTS BOOKED IN FOR APRIL 2020 EXAMS

Fellowship and Part III examinations have now been deferred to Semester 2 in October 2020 and they will transfer all enrolments to the next sitting in October 2020.

Communication, Modelling and Professionalism (CMP) Students
The CMP subject and assessments will continue as planned and the Institute will manage the assessment process while operating remotely.

Foundation examinations and IFoA exams – the Actuaries Institute administers these examinations on behalf of the IFoA and is guided by their policies and advice.  On 20 March the IFoA confirmed that they will not hold their April 2020 written assessments in examination centres.  Updates from the  IFoA on the April 2020 exams can be found on their website.

I’m sorry I can’t provide more information about exams, but like you all I’m relying on the information that comes out from either the Australian or UK Institutes.  I’ve been in touch with them but have not been able to get any additional information beyond what’s available on their websites.  With respect to Part II exams provided through Australian Universities I can only recommend that you contact the Universities as each one seems to be slightly different.

As you are all aware the situation has been changing very rapidly and we have tried to get more information but that hasn’t been possible.  We also don’t want to provide information to you that is either not correct or that is out of date, and for this reason are encouraging you to keep abreast of the information the examining bodies release.

    Kind regards

    John Smeed
    NZSA President
