Social Investment and the role of actuaries – Sessional

Social investment is a cornerstone of the Government’s approach to efficiently and effectively deliver and commission social services. It is about better enabling people, whānau, families, and communities to achieve outcomes and thrive, by using data, evidence and different ways of working. In this sessional meeting, Andrew Webber (Chief Economist) and Jenn Dobinson (Chief Technology Officer) from the Social Investment Agency will discuss the Social Investment approach and core challenges the agency is working on, including:Identifying with whom and how to intervene to deliver the biggest impact and value for money
Monitoring and evaluating progress of social services
Projecting long-term impacts of social services
Using AI tools to analyse social sector spending.

We will discuss how the actuarial skillset can potentially help meet these challenges.
