Navigating Complexity: Practical Tools for Better Decisions

September 23 at 11:00 am 2:00 pm

Dear members
Registrations are now open for the September AA Forum online meeting – all members are invited to attend.
At the recent June one-day AA Forum, we explored three defining themes shaping the future of the profession —
regulatory transformation, insurance affordability, and artificial intelligence. A common thread across these discussions
was the increasing complexity and interconnectedness of the environments in which actuaries operate.

The 23 September Forum builds on this discussion by exploring how complexity thinking can help actuaries make better
decisions in an environment of rapid change and uncertainty. We’ll hear from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand on its
emerging focus on complexity and interconnectedness before our guest speaker, Steven McCrone, Managing Director of
AGLX Asia-Pacific, shares practical tools and techniques to help actuaries strengthen decision-making, resilience and
adaptive capability. We’ll also get a report back on NZSA’s IPSA submission, plus a rapid-fire session on hot topics.

When: Wednesday 23 September 2026, 11.00 am–2.00 pm NZT
Where: Online
Who: NZSA members and invited guests
This is a ticketed event with a small registration fee.

The agenda will cover:
11-11.10am: Welcome and key themes and takeout from the June AA Forum – Adam Follington, AA Forum Committee
11.10-11.20am:  Introduction to RBNZ’s focus on Complexity and Interconnectedness – David Wild, RBNZ
